If the name sounds familiar, Dale is the guy that painted the California Kid, Jake's yellow coupe, the SuperBell coupe, Bud Bryan's Rod and Custom 29 Hiboy and, with his father Jim, rebuilt the Doyle Gammel 32 three window. He is also the founder and owner of WEEDETR Street Rod Components. He has owned this 5 window for 56 years and just finished a 17 year rebuild of it. He also built a high end 34 Cabriolet that was featured in Rod Action and Rodder's World magazines, and currently also has a 40 Ford sedan delivery, a 31 Ford roadster pickup, 27 Ford tub and is building a 1965 Ford Mustang for his wife.
Vince got into street rods later in life after 20 years in the Army. But, like most of us was into cars at an early age. At 8 he was drawing hot rods and visiting the principal. He has owned Fords, Chevy's, Pontiacs, a Porsche, an Audi, a Vette, a Chrysler, a Dodge, a Mercury and, those are just the ones that run! His first car was a '70 Maverick (Dad would not sign the note on a '55 Chevy BB). He has a couple of passes at Englishtown (Dodge van/318) and once ran a rented Sebring convertible at Bonneville on wet salt in the off season. 8 years ago a Model 40 coupe (picture) became his first true hot rod. He's about to build a 1940 coupe with Dale and WEEDETR Street Rod Components. At 64 He's the baby of the group.
Lewis has been involved in hot rodding most of his life. He started his hot rod employent with Doug Thorley headers, then worked for Ballenger Headers and Hooker Headers. Later, he was head fabricator for Jim Kirby's Challenger Equipment building T-bucket parts. After moving from Southern California to Northern California, he went to work for Dale Caulfield at WEEDETR. At that time, he had a 34 three window coupe. His first hot rod was a 68 Camaro with a blown small block that was on the cover of Popular Hot Rodding. Besides this blown small block Chevy powered 34 roadster, Lewis currently also owns a Flamed 40 Ford coupe and a big block powered 58 Chevy stepside pickup.
